Just FYI: A new coffee shop and bakery is set to open soon in Mahomet on Rt. 150, not far from the Carle branch location. Here’s a weblink:

I used to *love* Mirabelle, and would buy bread their weekly. But the last four or five loaves of bread I’ve bought have all had problems–they’re either over- or under-cooked. Overcooked = hard as a rock outside with a dried out inside, while undercooked = gooey insides and a not very crusty outside.
At first I figured I just got a bumb loaf and chalked it up to bad luck. So I went back another week and got the same thing. So I waited a while and returned a month later or so. Same thing. I waited longer. Same thing. etc…
I only have to throw my money away so many times before I give up. It’s a shame, but I don’t see the point in buying their bread anymore.

I have an event at Univ of Illinois (Law School Fair) and want to spend a little time enjoying the area. I love walking around interesting “downtown” areas — shops, restaurants, etc. Ideally, I could stay nearby, as well. Any suggestions?

I love your blog! I can’t believe I’ve not come across it before now! I’m eager to go through your archives, but for how, I have hungry children to go feed.
