little blog on the prairie

what a comeback

April 8, 2008 · 5 Comments

No, I’m not talking about Kansas. I’m talking about my entry in the first annual Little Blog on the Prairie NCAA tournament pool.

I was languishing in third place, behind Mr. Chicken and Jenna, until last night. For I picked Kansas to beat Memphis in the championship. And boy, I have never rooted for those Jayhawks so hard (and probably never will again).

So I won my own pool. And it looks like I will also win the women’s pool, although we had only one other entry from Rayne of Terror.

It’s too bad I didn’t stake my entry anywhere else. Mr. lbotp says I could have won a lot of money. For not only did I pick the championship game correctly, but check out the score I predicted: 74-69. The real score? 75-68. I guess I’ll go play the lotto today.

Mr. Chicken, even though you talked trash to me, I will still take you to lunch. Only I get to pick the place.

Thanks to everyone who played.

Congrats on the picks! Next year try the Esquire pool. My husband and I do it every year and you can win some serious cash even for 40th place!

Will this be a private date? :)

I didn’t get my bracket done in time (for here or work). At work, they allow ex-employees to enter (ones still in touch and that are liked). But the past two years this same ex-employee or her husband has won the big pool. I warned them not to let her enter. Good for them (usually close to 200 bucks), but bad for us. And all we get are donuts.

Gosh that game drove me nuts! I was actually planning on getting to bed early but then watched it until the end. It was one of the best championship games in a long time.

I’m going on the date PLUS she’ll blog about it. Nothing private about us :)
