Yes, I have been listening to more Sesame Street music lately. But this time it’s fitting. Yesterday I got a call from our trash company telling me that despite my note to them that they send their bills out earlier, they give people 10 days and a five-day grace period and that should be sufficient. Thanks for the excellent customer service.
This is absurd. This company sends dinky postcards reminding you to pay within 10 days. I guess they save a lot of money not sending you a real bill with the customary envelope to send back (although in this day and age of online bill pay, that’s pretty unnecessary trash that I can’t recycle because of the plastic window. But I digress.) I do not know of any utility business anywhere that sends out bills asking for them to be remitted within 10 days.
It’s a good thing that we can change our garbage provider in this town, because come spring these folks are getting dumped, pun intended. Now if only we could do the same with the water and electric c0mpanies.

You have Klean-Way, too, huh?
I hate those dinky postcards. And they charge an arm and a leg for yard waste disposal stickers.
And now I have that Oscar the Grouch song in my head.

Thank-you! What the hell? My husband threw out the first one because he thought it was just notice of a rate hike. Whoever heard of sending out bills on a post card?
They don’t even give you an account number to write on your check! Not to mention the fact that they’ve requested I call them and give them my phone number THREE times. Each time I call them and give them my number and each time they lose it. Ahhhh!

I thought I was having a bad time not getting an envelope, I was going to switch because of that and a price hike with our company. Also they say we can only use a ridiculously small trash can and I am charged an $1.50 extra a week for a bag or two outside of the can. That bugs me!
Does anyone like their garbage company?

We have Central (they may have changed their name recently?). We have never been charged extra, to my knowledge. And I am pretty sure our bill comes in an envelope. You might try them.
I have the song in my head now, too!

Anything dingy, or dirty, or dusty! Oh, I love trash. Anything rotten or ragged or rusty…

Our water bill comes on a postcard, but this being super small town I always go to the city hall and pay in person. So old-fashioned!

We have Central too (or whatever name they are going by). My only complaint is that if there is a holiday of any kind, you never know when your garbage day is (sometimes its the same, sometimes not).

I have Klean-Way and received my bill yesterday with a due date of March 10 (nicely highlighted in yellow) and a brief note telling me that due to increased operating costs they were raising the fee. I will happily give them back their ugly, huge toter and go back to using my own trash receptacles if that will help them with operating costs. I hate that thing.

While you can’t recycle the envelopes, you can use them. I have a folder of them and anytime I need to send anything to school in an envelope (2-3 times a week most weeks) I pull out one of my junk envelopes and send it in. They are super handy and don’t cost me anything.
