Unfortunately they tend to schedule their family programs on the weekends right in the middle of nap time! We always miss out.

The Poo is way into Chinese culture these days, thanks to a preview copy of a new show that will debut on Nick Jr. next week. Only instead of China, she insists the show is about hanukkah.

The Chinese New Year program at Champaign Public is going to be fantastic. I’ve heard a lot about it because I work here, and even I would consider going to it–and I don’t usually show up at my workplace when I’m not scheduled to work!

Our next-door neighbor is 1401 West Green Street (same as the Illini Union). He has had delivery trucks and at least one van load of very confused Asian visitors pull up at his modest house (the one with the ceramic deer in the front yard just after the concrete turns to tarmac as one heads to the west).

I have to wonder if the people working at the CPL get tired of weirdos coming up to them and raving about the new building. ’cause I did that to a children’s librarian and someone helping at the circ desk last night….

Nope, Khanada, we aren’t tired of the compliments about the new building! Keep ‘em coming!
And yes, anything was better than the old one, which was nasty. And had a leaky ceiling and countless other weird problems that made it a hassle to maintain. It was ahead of its time, though–built in the late ’70s, but the kelly green and purple color scheme was totally ’80s. I don’t miss the threadbare purple carpet in my old office, no I don’t…
