Headed into the parking garage at the Carle South Clinic this morning, I am bewildered at the sight of oversized golf carts, roped off parking spaces and pedestrians in odd places. As I walk out of the car toward the exit to get from the garage into the Clinic, I am stopped by a friendly man who tells me that I can’t go that way, that just this morning they reconfigured things (which made sense since I had just been there on Monday and there was no sign then of any overhaul). How the heck can I get to my appointment, I wonder. The nice man happens to be driving one of the aforementioned oversized golf carts, and he zips myself and another unsuspecting woman to the Clinic drive, via some circuitous path that made no sense. I would have been happy to walk, had I known where I was going. One might think that at the point where you stop to pick up the time ticket that there might be a sign there informing parkers what is going on, but that would be too easy. Instead, you just kind of have to figure it out for yourself.
I am very glad that Carle is creating what looks to be a very fine clinic to treat a disease that has effected many special women in my life, but I can’t wait until they are done building that place. So if you’re headed to an appointment at the South Clinic any time soon, be sure to leave lots of extra time to navigate.

Glad you found your way to the clinic. I just found out that my Great Aunt has breast cancer. I’ve known many women in my life that have had it and fought their way through it. I hope you’re doing well!

My sister works at Carle disseminating information. She said to use the free valet parking. Pull up to the circle drive south of the South Clinic off of Coler (I think that’s the name of the street). There are people there who will park your car for you at no additional charge and get it when you are done. All you pay is the normal parking rate.

I didn’t realize that there was no extra charge (besides the regular parking charge) for the valet. Good to know, thanks.
