While many of us continue to emote about the tragedy at the mall, I wanted to bring your attention to a great local option for spoiling your four-legged friends.

Little Barks is a small, family-0wned business out of Decatur that has been selling very moderately-priced cotton fabric collars (for dogs and cats), harnesses and leashes at the Market at the Square in recent weeks. LB also sells gourmet dog treats, clever doggie birthday party goods and other fun doggie doodads. Their stuff is adorable and affordable.

I have been in the market for a new collar for the Killer Cockapoo for a little while now. Nothing against her Chicago Cubs collar – the Cubbies are inching toward respectability this season — but I wanted a change for her. I found it the other day, and it looks great against her buff fur. I would show you the fabric, but it must be a newer pattern because it’s not online. It was a really difficult decision, because there are so many great ones to choose from.

Come September, I might just have to put the Cubs collar back on her. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
