I saw the running nun again in the neighborhood late last week, on a random afternoon.

Rumor has it that Stride Rite, late of Marketplace Mall, will be opening a store in the Tuscola outlet mall on June 1.

Now that Tout Sweet is the Crepe Cafe, and with Persimmon long gone, does this mean that there is no gelato in C-U?

A letter to the News-Gazette editor the other day laments trees being removed to make way for the new Urbana Meijer. And I thought Urbana was (a) Tree City USA

Gelato can be found at the former Green Street Cafe–now called giulano’s (I think). Doncha wish Euromart would just sell it by the pint already

Hopefully Meijer will plant a few trees on their property. An old meijer (out of state) that I grew up going to had these massive (well they looked massive when I was a child) things holding dirt with trees in them. I think as Meijer grew in popularity tho… they got rid of it and made more parking spaces. I think… it has been a long time since I visited that area.

I just went to Crepe Cafe for the first time last week. I’m pleased to report that they have the gelato you are looking for. The cafe is tres hip and the crepes are quite yummy and decent-sized…though at $6.50 and up for a crepe, I’m not sure I’ll be going back anytime soon, unfortunately. My wife makes supergood crepes that probably cost a quarter a piece to make.

Oh, my god. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa. I didn’t even know Tout Sweet was gone! I didn’t go there enough. I meant to, but that doesn’t add up to money in the till, does it?

The gelato at Bar Guiliani is just as good as Persimon’s was. Try the tiramisu flavor! Yum.

They totally over-load the cups, which makes it a better value for your money, but don’t try to work on your laptop with their wifi and eat gelato at the same time. I learned this the hard way. Sticky…

I’ll add to Dave’s comment and say that I tried the gelato (tangerine) at Crepe Cafe last week. It wasn’t bad, but a little pricey, and I think the gelato at Bar Guiliani is better…

Wow, thanks for all the tips. Welcome to the new commenters.

Neel … your blog is fascinating. I’ll be putting it on the blogroll.

Dr. Pink … me love me some tiramisu …

Lisa … happens to all of us. I didn’t go there enough either.

Starbucks … if you’re such a superfan, why are you hanging out at BG? Giggle.

Crepe Cafe and Bar Guliani, check and check. I’ve also been told that Jennifer North, in the old Cafe Verde/Verde Art Gallery, will have a gelato stand (or something like that) in the summer.

Running Nun sounds cool, but does anyone know what’s up with the woman I call “Crazy Rollerblading Hoola-Hoop Lady”? She hangs out at the park near the corner of Bradley & Neil and well, hoola hoops while roller blading around a basketball court. I usually see her there on Sunday mornings and I’m just curious as to what her story is. Maybe there isn’t one, but you never know.

Oh and she often twirls batons with sparkly ribbons on them at the same time.

The roller skating lady has been there for as long as I can remember. When I was little even. Shel also frequents Skateland.

Ditto that….I remember her doing exactly the same routines at that basketball court when I was in grade school. And I’m 36.

Hey…. where is the Crep Cafe???? If someone could email me… I tried going down Green street but could not find it. I am still new to the area… thanks :D

The Crepe Cafe is in the very odd building called “College Corner Mall” at the southwest corner at Green and Fourth Street. You have to go in the building; Crepe Cafe is not accessible from the street.
