Tomorrow is election day in our fine burg (see the ballot here). And although I’ve publicly expressed my displeasure over the Champaign City Council election becoming a one-issue race, I am going to be a complete hypocrite and announce my write-in candidacy for Champaign Park District Commissioner.
I have one issue: the creation of a dog park or “dog activity area” or whatever you want to call it.
Vote for me, and this will become a front-burner agenda item for the CPD board. The race is between incumbent Newt Dodds, who received the News-Gazette’s endorsement, and local environmentalist Rob Kanter. I have no doubt that either are qualified candidates, but that’s not the point here, is it?
Vote for me, lbotp.

Will smoking be allowed at the dog park?

Splod- Ha! That was funny! The dogs or the people?
I saw a news story the other day that Tuscola (I think it was Tuscola) has instituted a no-smoking policy at public parks, but its not a law and they aren’t going to enforce it. They are just trying to deter people from smoking around kids.
LBOTP- I’d vote for you. Write me in for mayor! I can’t believe he’s unopposed again.

Anon –
Yes, I’m completely aware of the dog park in Urbana. But I’m talking about one for Champaign, and there are many people who have expressed interest in it.
Thanks for dropping by,
