First, the new labor and delivery wing opens at Carle (where our friend Pammiecakes works), where every new mother has her own private room and supposed they even have wi-fi in the delivery rooms, so you can upload your photos of the new baby instantaneously. When Peanut was born a mere 11 months ago, we were thanking our lucky stars that we didn’t have to share a room, and mr. lbotp had to wait until he went home to share our good news with the rest of the world.
This morning, the news that a Motherhood Maternity clothing store is coming to a mall near us shook my small world. When Peanut was gestating, I shopped almost everywhere but C-U (including a trip to the Motherhood store in Bloomington) to avoid becoming a contestant on TLC’s What Not To Wear.
What’s next, a Babies R’ Us within our borders?

I just went to a Motherhood store in Joliet on my way back from IKEA earlier this year. It figures that we finally get one in Champaign a few weeks before my second and last child is born! I need an outfit for my husband’s 40th birthday party *this* weekend. I hate to wear the same old dark and dowdy winter clothes I have, but I think its way too cold for spring clothes. And I went to Old Navy the other day hoping to get something. I wore a lot of their clothes last time, but this time around their maternity clothes are either poor quality or very hoochy! And most of their pants are under-the-belly style which I can’t seem to keep up (sorry to everyone I’ve flashed butt crack to while going up stairs!). Any suggestions on something cute to pull together for a casual party?
I’m so excited about the new single rooms at Carle. We didn’t have to share last time. But, there wasn’t a rocking chair and the one they found me was quite jankey. And the room was kind of cramped and dreary. Now if only I could teach my husband how to download pix and upload them to our .Mac website!
Oh, and I *wish* someone would turn me in to What Not to Wear after this baby is born. But please don’t tell them that I have a half dozen pairs of Birkenstocks that I absolutely will not get rid of!

I swear I’m going to have another baby just to take advantage of the new rooms and MM!
With my first pregnancy, Old Navy and Target both had some selection for maternity wear. However, this past year, the selection was miserable!

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been slighted…
if it’s any consolation, the David’s Bridal was completed about 1 month before my wedding. Waaaay to late to get me out of the fiasco I got myself into (my MIL made my dress - huge diasaster)!!

So I read the News-Gazette article, and I can’t believe you didn’t comment on The Body Shop coming too! That’s a big accomplishment for our lovely little cow town. Now I won’t have to drive to Indianapolis to stock up on soap & shampoo. Yay.

Leeanthro: I would offer to lend you something, but my sister-in-law has all my cute maternity stuff. Have you checked out Karen’s Kloset (the consignment store in Country Fair)? I’ve heard they have some decent stuff.
Momo: You are a very, very brave woman.
Dr. Pink: More on TBS later.

Leanthro: hoochy?? You’ve got some great adjectives, but I can’t grasp that one! I checked urbandictionary.com, but it doesn’t seem to fit. ???

I think that we’ll have to have another just to take advantage of all the baby bonanza that C-U now has to offer (any way to ensure a girl this time, I don’t know if I could handle a third boy!)
I did have to share a room at Carle last time and, let me tell you, the Biaggis gift card and the basket of spa products didn’t even come close to making up for my night of misery. The first night after the birth, I had my own room, but my husband couldn’t stay because there wasn’t a pull-0ut couch for him and he didn’t fancy trying to sleep in the recliner (couldn’t blame him!) I stayed a second night because I remembered after having our first child how nice it is to have a little extra help and I was determined to get some sleep–not possible with the roommate who had 6 family members in the room until 9 PM and then kept the television on for the rest of the night!
Did we recently hit the market researchers radar or something? The influx of big chain stores in the last 2 years has really been something. And, has anyone noted the new Starbucks location inside Meijer? It was in, but not open, when I was there yesterday….

[...] Griggs505 says that Starbucks is now at Meijer. I never thought there would be two Starbucks across the street from one another in C-U. I did a [...]

Griggs505: You got a basket of spa products and Biaggi’s gift card? I never even got the supposed free massage that I keep hearing about. Darn! I was totally jipped! And I also found out that everyone totally cleans out their dresser and bassinet of supplies to take home with them. I’ll do a better job this time!
Mate’man: “Hoochy” is sort of trampy or slutty. Have you ever heard the term “hoochy mamma?” Here’s the entry from urban dictionary (I guess there are 2 ways to spell it and I don’t necessarily associated it with a particular ethnic group):
hoochie mamma: Used to describe very large African American women who wear clothes that are far too small for them.
(Used in a sentence) Check out the 300lbs hoochie mamma in the mini skirt.

Oh, and I ended up at Bergner’s where they had “take an additional 80% off clearance items.” Yes, 80%!! I got a $35 shirt for under 5 bucks! And its really cute. Too bad most of the other things on the rack were size small, too winter, or ugly.
