Mr. lbotp went to pick up some take-out the other night at a restaurant to be named later. He got there 10 minutes before their posted closing time.
The door was locked.
It wasn’t like he went in there to sit down and order 10 minutes before close. He had called ahead and was told the food would be ready in a certain amount of time. They seemed happy to accommodate him.
A waitstaff member disgustedly opened the door. They didn’t have a problem taking his money, but making sure he could get into the building was an issue. He somehow managed to get the food and get out of there, but not without adding a headache to his cold symptoms.

You must name the Offender. It’s not fair to tease us otherwise (and it’s Friday, so we’re probably all getting take-out, too).

Yep, time to name names.

OK, ‘fess up. We newbies can’t risk delayed take-out when we have toddlers.

Sounds like this one isn’t going to be around too much longer if they treat customers that way — or it’s a C-U ‘institution’ that’s gone awry ….

It is a C-U institution. I’ve never quite understood it’s popularity, but that’s just me.
The drum roll please …. the offender in question was family favorite (and locally owned) Pickles.

I don’t understand it either. Had a pork bbq sandwich the one time we went there and never went back (and it’s walking distance from home almost). Not sure what it was except that the place was “eh” and the food was “eh” so I threw it mentally in with the Chili’s, Bennigan’s, Cheddar’s, etc. group and moved on. Why waste time eating “eh” when you can easily get “wow”?

I don’t think of Pickles as an institution because I’ve been here longer than it has (20 years for me). We used to go there when it first opened but haven’t been in years. There’s a lot more choices now so it’s never a place that we pick to go.
