It’s fun to go to Campustown during UI breaks. We made a night of it at Noodles/Cold Stone a little while back, which was very enjoyable.
But at some campus restaurants, when the students go home, so does all their experienced help. The lbotp family ventured to Bar Louie for lunch on Thursday. We might as well have stayed until dinner. Blaming the slow service/food on the “lunch rush” — we were well at the tail end of that — it took an hour to get our food. When we did get it, Mr. lbotp’s order was wrong.
Then on Saturday night, we ordered pizza from Papa Del’s. The wait was long — I can’t wait for the new location to open in Village at the Crossing later this summer — which was OK. What wasn’t OK was the fact that they switched my mushroom pizza with someone else’s pepperoni. At least they realized the mistake (the other people called too) and delivered me a new pizza.
So go to Campustown, but be sure to build in a lot of time — and take your sense of humor.

I have never, ever had good service at Bar Louie. We keep giving them another chance, and then another one, and the service keeps sucking. I went there on my lunch break last summer with a couple of friends who were on break from class, and we waited almost 10 minutes before we saw a server at all. Our server then went to get us water, dropped the entire tray, and said “oops!” – and then disappeared. After another 10-15 minutes passed with no water and no one returning to take our order, I recruited the bartender, who sent someone right over. We got our food with less than 10 minutes of our hour-long break left. I don’t think we left a tip at all.
While that was certainly the worst service we received there – it was far from the only time it was bad. I can’t see at all how that place is an improvement over Panera.

[...] Bar Louie closed yesterday. Why am I not surprised. [...]
