Wrestling Invasion

It’s obvious that the Champaign County Convention and Visitors Bureau has misplaced the red carpet it once rolled out to welcome the state’s high school wrestling community for the state championship weekend.

Gone are the yard signs that used to pop up all over town, the ones touting how happy Champaign-Urbana was to have the top high school wrestlers, their coaches, their families and their friends in town for the IHSA individual wrestling championships at Assembly Hall. Where is Sara Seed when you need her?

This has to be one of the worst weekends to go out for dinner, especially in the North Prospect area, with all the hungry wrestlers (or maybe not so hungry — they do have to make weight) in town. Consider yourself warned.
