Finally.
Deb Pressey’s report in Friday’s News-Gazette that Starbucks will make its Champaign-Urbana debut in a new building under construction on the site of the old “poncho” building at 5th and Green (you know the one — it had the sign

in the window for years. It also had t-shirts like the one John Belushi wore in Animal House, but the place was never open). It will be in tandem with Potbelly’s, the Chicago sandwich place that is expanding like crazy all over the state. The Bloomington Starbucks is also paired with Potbelly.

Complaint time: parking. The lack of it. Unless there’s a customer lot behind that place, somehow I don’t see myself heading up there too often. Deb did write that Starbucks is scouting other locations in town, but we’ll hold our collective breaths for now.
